Villa San Giovanni to Messina is the short shuttle across the Strait of Messina, the narrow channel between the toe of Italy and Sicily. The crossing takes only about twenty to thirty minutes and runs very frequently, carrying cars, lorries and even train carriages. It is the main road link onto the island.
