Island
Sicily
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and packs in a lot: the smoking cone of Mount Etna, Greek temples at Agrigento, Baroque hill towns and some of Italy's best street food in Palermo and Catania. The crossing of the Strait of Messina from Villa San Giovanni is one of the shortest and busiest in the country, while longer overnight ferries run from Naples, Genoa and Civitavecchia. It is a big island that rewards taking your time.
