Italy
Italy has one of the busiest ferry networks in the Mediterranean. From the western ports of Genoa, Livorno, Civitavecchia and Naples, overnight boats serve Sardinia and Sicily, while the short Strait of Messina shuttle links the mainland to Sicily in well under an hour. Many of the same ports also reach Corsica, Spain, Tunisia and Greece. Overnight crossings with cabins are common, so you can sleep through the longer routes.
