Sardinia

Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean and is famous above all for its water, with white beaches and clear bays from the Costa Smeralda in the north to the coves of the southwest. The rugged interior is another world of granite mountains, sheep tracks and the Bronze Age stone towers known as nuraghi. Ferries arrive at Olbia, Golfo Aranci, Porto Torres and Cagliari from the Italian mainland and from neighbouring Corsica. With your own car it is a rewarding island for a longer road trip.
